You will be responsible for providing a planned maintenance function at sea onboard the vessel.

Your role will:

  • Identify and plan work to be completed during a maintenance shutdown.
  • Create & update (when necessary) the weekly shutdown plan including all identified work and ensures correct resource allocation and loading.
  • Analyse trends, failures and costs by gathering information (e.g. breakdown analysis, failure post mortems etc.).
  • Co-ordinate the SAP R/3 PM change management system on-board.
  • Train relevant vessel staff in maintenance management processes (e.g. work planning & control, RCM, failure analysis, shutdown principles etc.) and the SAP R/3 PM module.
  • Supervise the stores personnel on-board to ensure that the co-ordination and control of the stock and materials within stores is maintained for effective planned and stores maintenance.
  • Assist the CEO and Production Engineer in compiling the vessel budget by identifying high cost areas, forecasting trends and providing information for budgeting purposes.

Formal qualifications:



  • Grade 12, N3 or NQF equivalent
  • Trade certificate
  • National Diploma in Maintenance Planning (preferable)

Additional requirements:

  • Valid Code 08/EB Driver’s License.
  • Travel to Namibia as and when required

Role-specific knowledge:

  • 5 years in Engineering discipline post trade (including at least 2 years at supervisory level would be advantageous).
  • 2 years experience as a Maintenance Planner.
  • Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) experience (e.g. SAP PM etc.)
