Industrial Psychology is the scientific study of the relationship between man and the world of work. In brief, Industrial Psychology is concerned with the scientific structuring of organisations and of work so as to improve the productivity and quality of life of people at work, applying techniques and principles of psychology.

The Department of Industrial Psychology prides itself on being a department suitable for the training of human resource practitioners and psychometrists in South Africa. The department is accredited at the Health Professions Council of South Africa, as well as the South African Board for Personnel Practitioners.

While our competent staff members provide students with quality education, they also do research in their respective fields of expertise and are actively involved in practice as consultants for industry.

The Department of Industrial Psychology strives to prepare students for the organisational setting by ensuring that the modules which are offered meet the demands of the business environment. The modules offered to students are ideally suited to students with a heart for the social sciences, but with a head for business.
