The Electrical field of study consists of two main fields, namely Electrical Heavy Current and Electrical Light Current (also known as Electronics).

Electricians are involved in the generation, installation, distribution and usage of electricity vai electrically-operated
equipment, e.g Refrigerator, generators, stoves, heaters and industrial and domestic installations.

# CHOICE SUBJECTS

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS:

For N1 Grade 10 Certificate with a Pass in Mathematics and Physical Science

  •  For N4 – N3 or Grade 12 Certificate with a Pass in Mathematics and Physical Science
  •  For N2 – N1
  •  For N5 – N4
  •  For N3 – N2 /Technical Grade 12
  •  For N6 – N5

DURATION

The duration of each level is THREE months.

Therefore a TRIMESTER timetable is followed enabling the successful learner to accumulate THREE national certificates during the course of ONE year.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

After successfully completing the N6 course and a 24-month in-service training period spent in an environment relevant to the qualification, the student can apply for the National Diploma in Electrical Engineering.

 

ASSESSMENT

The pass requirement is a minimum of 40% per subject. Evaluations are cumulative, based on regular class tests and practical testing. At the end of each trimester a NATIONAL external examination is written.

TRIMESTER FEES

The fees include all study guides, assignments, assessments and examination fees. They do not include practical sessions and prescribed text books.
