UCT Late Application Form 2021 | How to Apply

This page will guide you on how to apply for the University of Cape Town late application both Online and Offline Mode. The UCT online application 2021 has been open for admissions into various Undergraduate, Postgraduate, Certificate, and Diploma programmes.

The UCT is one of the registered and accredited public institution in South Africa that gained accreditation.



Note – Once the UCT application portal is officially closed, new applications will not be submitted. So hurry and register now while the applications are still opened.

Application forms can be obtained at any of the UCT Sites/Campuses and, or on the College Website; https://applyonline.uct.ac.za/

Please note: the University reserves the right to change these dates. Before acting on any of the dates below confirmation should be sought from the appropriate office.

1 April 2020

  • Applications for admission in 2021 will open. Applications will close on 31 July 2020 for all undergraduate programmes. Please remember to apply online.
  • The National Benchmark Tests (NBTs) will open for registrations for the 2021 intake. You must apply online.

4 April 2020

  • Open Day is a good opportunity to access important information about the application process. (It’s also a good time for younger siblings to start thinking about UCT opportunities!)
    Please note: Following international advice on the hosting of large gatherings, we have taken the precautionary measure to cancel the 2020 Open Day, which was due to be held on Saturday, 4 April 2020. We apologise for any inconvenience.

31 July 2020

  • All undergraduate applications close. We do not accept late applications.
  • Applications for student housing close.
  • Last date to write the NBTs for admission to the Faculty of Health Sciences.

1 August 2020

  • National Student Funding Assistance Scheme (NSFAS) funding applications open. You must apply online.

31 August 2020

  • Closing date for undergraduate programme changes: 31 August 2020.

You do so by sending a request to [email protected] or submitting a written request to the Admissions Office.

30 September 2020

  • Final date to submit the Bachelor of Architectural Studies (BAS) portfolio.

10 October 2020



  • Except for Health Sciences programmes, National Benchmark Tests must be written no later than 10 October 2020.

31 October 2020

  • For applicants finishing secondary school in 2020, all grade 12 interim results, or predicted scores in the case of non-NSC candidates, are due.
  • Interim and past transcripts for transferring applicants are due.

30 November 2020

  • Last date to apply for National Student Funding Assistance Scheme (NSFAS) funding. You must apply online.

31 December 2020

  • All final transcripts and non-NSC school-leaving results (except CIE, ZIMSEC and NSSC) must be submitted as certified paper documents.

15 January 2021

  • Final tertiary transcripts are due for students registered for tertiary studies in 2020.
  • Final CAIE, ZIMSEC and NSSC results from the November 2020 session are due.

15 February 2021

  • First quarter starts at UCT.

Central Applications Office (CAO) Change of Mind Form.

CAO Late Applications and Change of Mind Form

CAO, its Administration departments, staff or any affiliated persons who provide information to the institutions, public and or prospective students, provides such information, whether written or oral, in good faith.

In the event that the public and/or prospective student, act upon such information to their detriment, CAO shall not be held liable for any loss, harm or damage (direct, consequential or special), or expense of any nature whatsoever, which may be suffered as a result of reliance on such information, the interpretation thereof or any references made thereto.

CAO, to the best of its ability, attempts to ensure that the information provided is both true and correct, free from error, omission or misrepresentation, however, does not warrant the aforesaid expressly or implied.

This form is used when you want to:

1. Change one or more programmes choices you previously submitted

2. Change the rank order of your choices, e.g. from number 4 to number 1

3. Add a programme to your list of choices to a maximum of 6 programme choices

4. Extend your current application to the following year. When extending your application to the following year you may change programme choices.

The cost is R135 to do any one of the above. Pay through EasyPay. Use the same EasyPay number that you used when you paid for your application, OR pay by card at our office. If you have forgotten your EasyPay number you may call our Call Centre provided below.

Please Note

  • Check your application status on www.cao.ac.za at “My Application” BEFORE you complete this form.
  • These requests will only be processed once the COM fee of R135 has been received.
  • The submission cost of this form is R135 irrespective of the number of changes in Grid B.
