UKZN Masters Entry Requirements
Criteria for eligibility for admission are given below:
(1) Master’s by Research: Acceptable Honour’s degree in Information Studies or closely related field.
(2) Master’s by Course work: A degree by course work and dissertation for holders of an Honour’s degree in Information Studies or its equivalent, OR for holders of a Bachelor’s Degree and the Advanced University Diploma in Information Studies OR its equivalent.
(3) Doctoral Programme: Acceptable Master’s degree in Information Studies or closely related field. Two years research and dissertation, minimum.
The disciplines covered and expertise available for research cover most areas of Information Studies. The usual university facilities are provided. The bursaries and/or scholarships available usually include some graduate assistant work.
Students are accepted only if a qualified supervisor is available after a complete, detailed thesis or dissertation proposal has been approved. If appropriate, the staff may assist with the preparation of the proposal. All programmes are available both full-time and part-time.
