2018: GENERAL 1st SEMESTER REGISTRATION AND 2nd SEMESTER

SUBJECT ADDITIONS INFORMATION:

IMPORTANT NOTICE: STUDENTS WHO WERE INACTIVE (DIDN’T REGISTER) DURING 2017 SHOULD CONTACT DISTANCE EDUCATION UNIT URGENTLY BEFORE ATTEMPTING TO REGISTER. FAILURE TO DO SO WILL RESULT IN AUTOMATIC CANCELLATION OF THE SUBJECTS YOU REGISTERED, WITHOUT ANY ATTENDANCE TO YOU BY THE DISTANCE EDUCATION UNIT.

PLEASE NOTE THAT ONCE OFF REGISTRATIONS WERE IMPLEMENTED WITH EFFECT FROM JANUARY 2016, WHICH IMPLIES THAT YOU SHOULD REGISTER ONCE IN THE BEGINNING OF THE YEAR: YOU WILL ONLY BE ALLOWED TO ADD SUBJECTS FOR THE 2NDSEMESTER 2019AFTER PUBLICATION OF THE MAY/JUNE EXAMINATION RESULTS.



General remarks and information:

1.The details below apply specifically to distance education students.

2.The commencement date for subject registrations is 08 January 2019and the closing date is 16 February 2018.

3.No late registrations will be accommodated.

4.All relevant TUT Rules and Regulations and Part 9 of the TUT Prospectus apply to distance education students. Please consult the relevant documents at www.tut.ac.za

5.The University accepts no responsibility for any service, event, situation, or agreement that is not contractually based according to the set TUT requirements.

6.ADMISSIONS TO THE B TECH (FIRST REGISTRATION)

7.Students who completed their National Diploma at Tshwane University of Technology can only start with the B Tech in the beginning of the year (2018) on approval of their Application for Admission to the B Tech.

8.RE-ADMISSIONS

Students who were inactive or not registered prior and up to the 2nd semester 2017, have to apply for re-admission for 2019and will only be allowed to register for 2018 after and if their re-admission applications were approved by the Academic Department.

The closing date for submission of Re-admission applications for 2019is 30 November 2017.

Completed and signed re-admission application forms should be faxed or e-mailed to DEU at the relevant fax numbers and e-mailas indicated in paragraphs 13 and 14 in the table below.

9.REGISTRATION FEES PAYABLE UP FRONT, BEFORE REGISTRATION:

Traffic students who were inactive during the 2nd semester of 2017 due to unavailability of their outstanding subjects may register

subjects for the 1st semester of 2019without applying for re-admission. An initial deposit of R1500-00 before attempting to register has to be paid.

Senior students should pay all outstanding subject registration fees relevant to previous semesters as well as an initial deposit ofR1500-00 before attempting to register for the 1st semester of 2018.

If a debit balance appears on your financial statement, you will not be allowed to register for 2018. TUT banking details are as follows:

Please note that payment will only reflect on your student account after three (3) working days. You will not be able to register subjects online before the three (3) working days expired, which implies that you should pay not later than 13 February 2018.

12.COMPLETED GAPGRANT APPLICATION FORMS (COMPULSARY FOR ALL STUDENTS)

E-mail your completed Gap Grant Application- or Student/Parent/Guardian declaration form to[email protected] before attempting to register online. Submission of either one of the two forms is compulsory.

ONLINE REGISTRATION: IMPERATIVE FOR ALL DISTANCE EDUCATION STUDENTS

13.ONLINE REGISTRATION PROCESS: 13.1 Access and login



a)Go to www.tut.ac.za

b)Click on MENU on top of the right hand side of the TUT home page, then click on STUDY AT TUT, then click on DISTANCE EDUCATION, then click on REGISTRATION and then click on the online registration link at the bottom of the page.

c)Enter your student number and pin number under REGISTERED USERS. New students who never registered any subjects before will only be able to activate their TUT4life e-mail addresses after they registered online for the 1st time. Please request your pin from Distance Education.

d)Before attempting to request a pin and/or register online: Please activate your tut4life e-mail addresses on the TUT Website.

e)If your pin number is lost, click on Request a Pin and it will be e-mailed to you, provided that your TUT4life e-mail address do appear on the TUT system.

13.2Registration steps

a)Step 1: Rules and Regulations:

i.Click on Registration.

ii.Read through the Memorandum of Agreement, scroll down and click on Accept conditions.

iii.Verify Qualification name.

iv.Select your employment status

v.Click Save and Continue.

vi.Select your subjects:

vii.(Please note: National Diploma students may not register for more than two (2) subjects per semester and B Tech students are allowed to register up to four (4) subjects per semester, if available.)

viii.Click on Save and Proceed.

ix.

Verify the selected subjects. If you wish to change a subject, click Restart Process and start from the beginning.

x.Click on Accept Registration.

b)Step 2: Proof of Registration:

i.Proof of registration will be displayed on screen.

ii.PRINT THE PROOF OF REGISTRATION.

iii.PRINT AND COMPLETE THE EXAMINATION VENUE SELECTION FORM WHICH APPEARS ON THE TUT DISTANCE EDUCATION REGISTRATION WEBPAGE.

iv.FAX THE PROOF OF REGISTRATION TOGETHER WITH YOUR COMPLETED VENUE SELECTION FORM TO THE RELEVANT FAX

NUMBER APPEARING AT THE BOTTOM OF PAGE 2 OF THIS DOCUMENT. FAILURE TO DO THIS WILL RESULT IN NO ADMISSION TO EXAMINATIONS.

c)Step 3: Address validation and communication details

i.ENSURE THAT WE HAVE YOUR CORRECT DETAILS –BIOGRAPHICAL AND COMMUNICATION (E.G. TUT4LIFE E-MAIL ADDRESS AND CELL PHONE NUMBER) DETAILS. NO PRIVATE E-MAIL ADDRESSES WILL BE USED FOR TUT COMMUNCATION.

ii.Click on Description in blue.

iii.Change the information, if applicable.

iv.Click on Save (compulsory).
